人生是各種選擇的組合，每個選擇也決定了人生的樣貌。對現任鴻海董事長劉揚偉來說，他的人生並無特定的規劃與樣貌，他單純只是──聚焦在把自己的事情做好。
“Everything in our lives is a reflection of the choices we made. Instead of holding on to a particular plan and expectation for my life, I simply focus on doing the best for things I can control,” says Young Liu, Chairman of Hon Hai Technology Group.
「我把事情分成兩類，能做的和不能做的。後者我不看，只專注在我能做的；比如說我可以做的就是把書讀好、把工作做好，而老闆要不要升我，那就不是我能控制的。」劉揚偉說，沒有人能預期自己的路，但是，能做的就好好做，剩下的事情不要多想，「往往是你做好了，其他的事情也會跟著變好。」
出掌鴻海兵符，絕對不是件簡單的任務，多數人或許會被前任董事長郭台銘的霸氣形象框住而去設想繼任者；但外觀斯文、論理說事卻精密到位的劉揚偉，卻有一股雲淡風輕般的冷靜特質。而那股冷靜，或許正是源自他一生聚焦的行事價值。
“I divide things into the practicable and the impracticable and only concentrate on the former. For example, performance is what I can control but promotion is not, so I focus on doing my best for performance improvements without thinking the outcome of my endeavor.” Liu believes that no one can foresee what will happen next. We should focus on what we can control and leave what we can’t. “When you do one thing right, the rest will go your way.”
Taking charge of Hon Hai Technology is never a simple task as the assertive image the Founder and former Chairman Terry Guo established is still so vivid that people would easily project to the successor. Against everyone’s expectations, Liu has a personality different from Mr. Terry Guo. Despite the difference, Liu inherits Guo’s legacy but carries out with a calm and diligent attitude that perfectly reflects his conduct of life.

劉揚偉歷經過主機板、軟體、IC與系統組裝，多面向的經歷令他總能洞見趨勢，從容面對並處理問題。他說，如果只有單一經驗，就會不知道過程已經改變，也無從得知半導體產業的變化會對系統組裝產生何種影響，也無從得知半導體產業的變化會對系統組裝產生何種影響，唯有長期在各種不同學科都浸淫過，才能敏銳地預測其未來發展方向。
With diverse experiences ranged from the motherboard to software, IC, and EMS industries, Liu gains insight into the industry trends and solves issues effortlessly. He believes that the diversely accumulated experiences give him a keen perspective on the direction of technology development. If he only had experience in the EMS industry, he wouldn’t understand the relationship between transformations in the semiconductor industry and the assembly processes in the EMS industry.
